CIS Board Member Jessica Peters and her team in partnership with CIS and Greenlight Bookstore, recently hosted an inspiring evening dedicated to the power of story, community, and connection

The event celebrated access to books as a key to belonging—for students, families, and the larger community. Through conversation and meaningful connection, we explored how literature opens doors, builds relationships, and creates place.

Attendees discovered how reading fosters social‑emotional growth and builds belonging in classrooms, homes, and neighborhoods.

The event supported the mission of CIS to expand school‑based mental health and social‑emotional learning through literature‑rich environments.

Every ticket purchased, every conversation sparked, and every dollar donated helped bring more books and belonging into our city’s schools. Together, we celebrated creating safe, supportive spaces where young people thrive through reading—and through being seen, heard, and included.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special night of connection, stories, and community!
